It's actually pretty easy to change, at least my Yam was easy. Just order the part, the lever comes apart easily, solder in the new one and all is good. I am really challenged when it comes to things like this and even I could do it, so give it a try.

mine used to always have issues... the mechanic told me that the hand throttles have a sharp corner that the wires rub on then break. he said it happens all the time...easy fix but the thing was hard for me to get apart. it was pretty cheap for the mechanic to do. he used a grinder yo make a notch where the wires rubbed and replaced the wire and it was good to go. could be a bad switch also...good luck
