ABA Piru nights...Lights out!!!

Post by likeflames »

September 15, 2012 at Lake Piru ABA night tournament brings yet another chance to beat world class hall of fame angler, William “Bill” Siemantel and his not so new to bass fishing, accomplished team partner and angler Mike Jones. Not only is Jones an acknowledged writer from Bass Master magazine, and vast array of other publications. He co-authored The Big Bass Zone, and has been involved in the western fishing industry longer than most. He is rivaled only by pro angler, author, and columnist, George Kramer. The amount of the teams on the water experience and general fishing knowledge is mind boggling. How many teams will accept this challenge when the odds are totally stacked against them?

New to the tournament thing, so please don't attack me if I don't know, but has Bill Siementel fished the WON U.S. Open and if so, how did he do compared to some of the West's best?

This is a open team event, not attacking anyone who is interested in entering. Just saying you fishing against the best.

Is this against the best of the best or of a region?

Just asking, because I thought I was pretty good until I fished an unknown body of water to me where I felt completely lost and saw anglers who were not from the area do pretty well. This put things back into perspective for me and made me realize that I have a lot to learn. I think it's pretty amazing when some anglers are capable of remaining consitantly on top at any body of water they fish, that's where I would like to be some day.

Judge youself by your accomplishments. If you beat the best in one zip code, move on to the next. You will make the top 40 list and then move on to the Hall of Fame.

No he was not there but the best in the west were at the US Open last week and will most likely not be at aba piru. Piru will be full of great anglers from a certain region/lake not the best in the west. The best in the west drive to win when the field is stacked with the best anglers like the us open was. Not a weekend night derby filled with 99% weekend anglers.

That's right buckbass, I've been fishing events held by ABA at Silverwood for a while. I'm not very experienced with large events or fishing events with more than a dozen boats.

Just guessing that most people don't want to put up entry money and options when "the odds are totally stacked against them". After awhile having guys who dominate does hurt participation. Mike was smart to pick him as a partner. I wonder how they split the money up?

I wonder what the odds were of an "outsider" winning was let alone this "best in the west" guy not even cashing a check in a field that consisted of 96% of weekend anglers who were there to have a good ole time much less the caliber angler of this world class angler???

The odds had to for sure be huge.

Congrats to last nights "best of piru" Brendon Widick, has to make a strong claim for the title of "best in the west" as he did beat the reigning one.

How about a shout out to the true Piru Nights "Kings", Joe Uribe jr and Jesse Marquez who had 5 top five finishes there this season and secured their 2nd straight AOY in that region. That is the true meaning of a champion-consistancy all year. Congrats. Rick G.

Hey guys-
You are a100 percent right! Bill is not only fishing against a field of weekend anglers, but in that mix are some of So. Cal's top Pros. Joe Uribe Jr. has had a phenomenal career at a young age. Congratulations to him on multiple AOY/team/pro events including FLW/US open/Lucas Oil finishes to his credit. With that being said, no matter how solid of an angler… He still is not in the same league as Bill’s total career accomplishments. You can’t win them all… .

Look at the Us Open this year, regarding Rick Clunns finish. How can anyone question his ability or accomplishments?

Congrats Uribejr and jesse on a TRUE season, and getting it done for AOY! For me, I'd rather take AOY home than a first place land slide solo victory.. juss sayin. Keep it in the Q.B.Z! LOLOL

Hey, my partner and I beat Bill at Castaic for 1st place and big fish before, so he's not unbeatable- he's just good like many. I never minded fishing against Aaron, or the Bailey's, or lots of great sticks. I think you should always fish against the best you can find if you can. It's not supposed to be all about the money is it? I quit tournaments because I work on weekends, but it was fun.

Mr Wilson has a great point for sure. I always love to fish against the best anglers possible. Seeing the Baileys, Bill, Martens, Uribes, Macabees and so on is a blast. Sure makes for a challenge and tests your skills!

I seem to have lost my edge ...... Is there an argument here about something that I'm just not getting ???? I've been away trying to get the a-rig banned from tournaments so I'm a little out of the loop ...... Or noose .

Likeflames is having an argument with himself about Bill Siemental not getting his due credit for being the best angler to ever hold a rod.

OR

We are all trying to figure who is actually riding Bill's jock, or if its really him pumping himself up on the internet.

However you look at it, its pretty entertaining ....pathetic.... but entertaining.

Well Mike @robo, you don't get the whole thing because you're basically a superb angler with repeated wins, but you don't go around promoting yourself. Probably too busy making stuff peons like I use every day I fish bass and helping invent new colors...
