Rain gear

I'm in need of some new rain gear, and kinda need it by this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions on where locally i can pick up a decent set ? Any info on brand and location would be appreciated. Looking to keep cost un $175 or so. Thanks

Pro Rainer rain gear. They are AWESOME! Not sure where who sells they locally. Check the net, by doing a google search.

I'd Reccommend Cabelas Guidewear although the price is about 100 bucks more than you want to spend....once you buy them you'll never have to buy anymore......They are worth the extra bucks....Nice gear...and you might be able to rush ship your order. Also they might have a set on clearance. Good luck.

I just got the Frogg Toggs elite suit. I had some people tell me that the original Frogg Toggs work great, but will begin to wear (and leak) around the knees and elbows with time. The elite suit looks and feels much more durable and is right around your price range. I got mine at TW and they shipped super fast, but I think they are out now.

I use the Frogg Toggs Elite I got from USACproshop.net. These work great --- Lately I have really needed them! I have fished in Rain, sleet, snow and wind up hear at CLear Lake and haven't been cold or wet at all, other than my hands!!


What we really need is for someone to design a new style of gloves for fisherman..

Something with a very thin Palm and under fingers side to keep the feel... and a thicker back side to keep the back of your hands warm! Almost 1/2 surgeon latex gloves, 1/2 snow gloves.... Know what I mean?

My coangler this weekend, soon-to-be fourteen year old Garrett Lander, put a HotHands warmer into each of his gloves, in the palm. He said his hands were warm all day. The warmers stopped working as well when they got wet, but were still warm when he took them out to throw away. Must have worked. He caught most of our fish, including the two biggest. Good stick, great idea!

I second the Cabelas Guide wear... It will keep you dry all day on a rainy day. Worth the money. This is an investment every one needs to make.

Guidewear all the way. Fished in the rain and snow up at Oroville and was dry and warm all day...

All you guys using the hot hands to keep your hands warm, Try taping them to the inside of your wrist and it will keep the circulating blood to your hands warm and in turn your hands stay warmer. It works great for me and I am not putting my hands in my pockets all the time trying to get them warm.

Well, some Wallyworlds have the breathable, waterproof Stearns Rain gear for ~20/pants & $30/jacket. These are GREAT ... have them for a few years and have nto let me down yet. They're thin, so if it get's cold, I wear a layer of fleece underneath ...

Another alternative is that Costco had also sold similar items in the past for $40-50/set (top & bottom).

I would HIGHLY recommend BREATHABLE ... I've had the pro rainers (still do, just don't use them any more) and they keep you warm and dry. But they do NOT breath ... so if you sweat underneath, you will get cold. I don't sweat too much, so it doen't affect me too much. Others do ...

Lately, I've went the route of wearing a skii bib and the Stearns top & fleece. I got a pair of Salomon breathable/waterproof bibs from Sportsmart a couple of months back when they had it on sale for $35. I think they normally run about $70-80 ... even for the regular price, this is a real, real good bib. Lightly insulated and comfortable .
