Thanks for the kind words Bob. The fished changed so much in those few days. Lots of guys stayed really deep (35 to 50 ft ) and those fish should of been the most reliable, pulled the Houdini act. I fished with Richard on Wednesday and saw first hand what the bite was. I really expected it to be won deep. I started shallow and took a clubbing on Day 1 till about 10:30 AM...then caught a 4.39 LM and 20 min later a 3 lb spot. It was my last stop before fishing 35 to 50 feet the rest of the event. One lucky stop and two bites changed everything. Still struggled through the day picking one up here and there. Just kept fishing and BSing with Terri my partner, had a slow but fun day fishing and conversing with new friend. Poached a spot of Richards at day's end and caught a 3 3/4 spot in closing minutes. Caught our fish from 10 to 30 feet, but Terri caught one at 50 feet.
Day 2 started fast, limit in 15 min. They were biting. Caught about 15 fish first hour...three 2 pounders and everything else was less. Made a big change at 10 AM. Straight up went prefishing in areas I have not fished in a year. PAYDIRT...first fish 3.96 spot..5 min later 2.5 spot....lots of keeper fish....another area change and 2.90 spot and lost a BIG one...we were rolling and it was easy at this point. I fished with Merle Noon, he has drawn both me and Richard twice each, so we are friends. Great day fishing and telling stories ( maybe some tall fish stories

) Our fish came from 10 to 30 again, but Merle caught several down to 50 feet on tube and swimbait.
When your catching them, it's fun and easy...when your struggling it plain sucks. I won this tournament because of a 4.39 bite. That bite changed everything and really helped get my head straight calmed me down to go fishing. Now I had some ideas.
Our sport has the highest highs and lowest lows. It's tough on guys but a win makes up for all those struggle days. I took a whipping at FLW a few days ago, but it was great event because Richard did well and so did some close buddies. I was happy for them and it made it special.
Thanks to Won Bass for a fun, great event. Made some good dough and even get to go to the US Open with paid $2000 entry. That's cool!!!! Thanks to both my partners for the help and great conversation all day to keep me calmed down and fishing
Looking forward to the next one!!
