Overheating Problem

Post by HawgCatcher »

I have a Yamaha Vmax 225 and I'm having an overheating problem (I think). While I was cleaning my boat I hooked the hose up to my motor with the water muffs and turned on the water and started up the motor. As I was cleaning the console the Overheating alarm went off so I shut off the motor waited a little while and then started it again. I noticed that there wasn't any water coming out of the hole and my water pressure gauge didn't move. How do I know if I have an impeller problem or water pump problem and if it's just the impeller how hard is it to change?

sounds like you fried the impeller. when was the last time you changed it???? if you know what your doing. dropping the lower to change is a fairly simple change if you dont, i highly suggest you take it to your dealer. so they can determine if all you need is a impeller or possible housing

I had the same issue a month ago. Problem was that I didn't have the low water pickup plugged like BILLYS said. If you have a low water pickup that is probably your problem.
