Skeg repair
Skeg repair
Took a chunk out of the forward facing part of my skeg. Any suggestions on who can repair it locally? Located in Concord. Motor is 225 Etec HO.
Re: Skeg repair
Just buy a Skag protector from Bass Pro Shop. Hides the damage and protects against any more.

Re: Skeg repair
Jeff, most prop shops can repair it and you'll never even know it. Be like factory new. Easy fix.

Re: Skeg repair
You're better off to get the skeg repaired rather than go with a bolt on replacement. The bolt on's are almost identical in cost to having the existing one repaired and also the bolt on's can end up causing more damage if you hit something hard enough again because they tend to either fold up and crack the skeg or sometimes even cause the skeg break off at the bolt holes. Like Gary said, you can't tell it was ever damaged after a good repair job.

Phils Props is a ways for you....but I can promise they are excellent at fixing skegs. They have done several for me over the years. Might be a good excuse to hit Lake Shasta
