Need FF/Chartplotter recommendations

Post by SoCalAngler »

Looking for my first freshwater FF/Chartplotter combo.

Boat: 21' Pontoon fishing model

Locations: So Cal Lakes, Havasu, Mohave, etc

Fish targets: Primarily Striper, cats, trout, and bluegill/crappie. Some bass but not usually targeted.

Looking for clear, crisp images, ease of use, dependability, and good warranty.

Screen size is where cost changes dramatically. I'd love a 10" considering the size of my boat, as I fish from both front and rear of boat. I'll swiverl screen from front to back to save on purchasing two units. However, 10" screen model prices are up there!

What is BEST for dollars:

1. For a $500 budget

2. For a $1000 budget

3. For a $1500 budget

4. For a $2000 budget

Thanks!

For $699 you can get a brand new Lowrance Elite 7 HDI Combo unit. Comes with a transom mount transducer. You will also need a Premium Hot Maps chip, which runs around $130-$150. The unit has GPS, Broadband sonar, and Down Scan Imaging.

Thanks

what are the differences between the 7" Elite and the 7" HDS?

Also, how does Hummingbird 858C HD DI compare to the Elite 7"? They are pretty close in price....the HB about $200 more because the Lowrance is 10% off at west marine

Hds has side imaging and down imaging. The elite 7 has down imaging only.

There are some websites that are a lot cheaper then bps or west marine.

Try hodges marine. Found my 7 touch there for a better price then others.

Good luck.
