Lowrance Sonar Question
Can someone give me some guidance on where to install my Lowrance Elite 7 Skimmer transducer? I had an older model Lowrance and the transducer is glassed in the hull. I understand that the units with Downscan will lose definition readings unless the transducer is placed on the outside of the hull. I have a Champion 198. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Lowrance Sonar Question
Mine is installed on the driver's side of the transom. Works great! I have an Elite 7 HDI.

Thanks Dwise, Could you by chance take a picture of it? I'm not sure if I want to attempt the install myself or just get it done at a boat dealer

Re: Lowrance Sonar Question
Check out the company called transducer shield and saver. They make a bracket that bolts to your jack plate. I have one of these for my structure scan ducer.

Re: Lowrance Sonar Question
The skimmer saver is pretty cool for sure, I was mostly interested in getting a visual on where to mount the skimmer on a champion and how to rout the cables.
Re: Lowrance Sonar Question
My Elite 7 HDI came with a transducer bracket. I had Lakeside Marine do the install so I can't tell you how to do it. They moved my old transducer to the other side of the transom because I wanted my X85 to stay hooked up as a back up. They installed the new transducer where the old one was. So I have two transducers on my transom, one on each side.

Re: Lowrance Sonar Question
Dwise, I don't really want to know how to install it. I want to know if you are getting good high speed readings, can you take a picture of where your transducer is on your boat. I would like to duplicate the location if you are getting good readings. Thanks.
