Electronics question

I know this a Lowrance forum, but I am going to install a Raymarine Dragonfly. Does the front of the transom mount transducer need to be clear of what's in front of it, or just the bottom clear? I have a LMS 520C that I'm replacing and RD ducer is bigger and longer. I would like to put it in the same area/holes, but the front of the ducer would be blocked just a bit. All help appreciated, Thanks
