FLW College on Havasu

Post by College Angler Needs Help »

Hey guys, my name is Steven White and I fish for Eastern Washington University for both the FLW and BASS college circuit. Well I have a dilemma due to the cost and possible bad weather conditions towing my boat from WA to AZ for the Havasu tournament 1/31-2/1. The FLW isn't providing volunteer boaters for our tournaments any longer and that makes it harder to budget for the season. So looking for a boat to borrow/rent to run for the tournament and possible a few days prior to prefish. If anyone is interested in helping a college angler or has any leads on who to contact it would be greatly appreciated. Reply on here, email me at steven.white@eagles.ewu.edu or call/text my personal number at (916)995-8908. I'm experienced with boats, and can promise safety of the boat or pay for any damages if something did happen.

Did I read that correctly? FLW is not providing boats for College Fishing? Is that statement for practice or the tournament?

Jason I heard that rumor, but I don't think it's a rumor. I for one really enjoyed taking the college kids out and the gas money was a bonus. I'm more concerned how it will affect the program.

Hey guys,
Thank you so much for all the feedback. It's true, no volunteer boaters this year. WE have to provide our own boats this year, which is going to really hurt the participation and possibly end the circuit after this season. Once we lost National Guard as a sponsor it's really affected the circuit. Thank you for your feedback! I will def give that gentleman a call, and any other leads are greatly appreciated.

That is bad news bears, we just got a club together at USC to participate and for now we only have one boat. Hopefully there's a way to figure out boat situations for all the schools who want to participate.

Ya elliot I doubt it unless you guys start trying to find boats to borrow now. This will probably be the final year for the FLW college west coast circuit unfortunately

Is the boat owner allowed to be in the boat and drive you guys around just like when FLW paid them to do so? If that is the case I'm sure guys will stay another day if they don't make the cut. You will however have to pay for that service yourself if FLW is not paying like years past.

What's FLW paid in the past? and I'll call the tournament director and see what they say about having someone in the boat

Let me know what the TD says, we will pull money together if that's what it takes.

If I remember it was $200 I did it the last time it was in Havasu.
