Leopard shark caught in Clear Lake?!!

Post by bddbass »

Did anyone read this is the reports? A while back a gentleman mentioned in the reports that he had caught stripers in Clear Lake and recieved alot of criticism. Ron, the one who posted the shark report, also said that he has caught small stripers there as well. Anyone else caught any stripers there?

Remember Clear Lake is made up of springs-u cant get no fresher water than that right?

Did someone catch a Leopard shark in freshwater....No. It would make more sence and it's totally possible to catch a Zebra Shark in freshwater. The Zebra Shark is also referred to as a Leopard Shark, it is not the same animal as the more commonly known Leopard Shark. The young Zebra Shark has a dark brown to blackish background with narrow yellow bars and yellow spots. This bold coloration will change and the banding will fade as it ages. As an adult it will be a creamy or yellowish-brown with dark brown spots. There have even been a few occasions of an adult developing into an albino coloring. ALSO you might find it interesting that the Bull Shark can live in brackish water. Over a 10-day period during July 1916, five shark attacks occurred along the New Jersey shore from a Bull shark. So their you have it a little shark knowledge. Stripers......I don't care about Stripers that much, they always make me think I have a real Bass on.

DFG plans to drain Clearlake!

Post by NaCl »

That's right, they are worried that Leopard sharks might migrate downstream from Clearlake into Berryessa. They are planning to poison the entire lake with Draino before lowering it all the way down. As a government cost cutting measure, DFG has agreed to cooperate with the Lake County Welfare office. Illegal immigrants will be allowed to "harvest" the floundering fish as the lake level falls in lieu of government sponsored food stamps.

As you know, the dam at the south end of Clearlake only raised the lake's natural water level. In order to evacuate the remaining natural basin, DFG has contracted with Mayfair to provide 200,000 bilge pumps which will be distributed to all the deep water areas (Leubow Point, Konocti, Shag Rock, etc). They decided NOT to use deep cycle batteries as this expense would be too great. Instead, they have purchased one battery charger for every five bilge pumps and they are presently laying fifty-six miles of extension cords to plug in the battery chargers.

While the lake is being drained, DFG recommends all bass boats be driven at 5mph because of newly exposed rock piles and wading Russians. They also warned that lifting the water pressure off the extinct Konocti volcano, might cause it to erupt. Should this occur, nearby residents have been advised to grab the closest person and enjoy sex for the last time. People who are dieting are free to eat anything they want for those 6 to 10 minutes.

DFG promises that after the Leopard shark invasion is thwarted, they will refill the lake and stock it with trout!

For more information on this DFG program, call Lake County Department of Government Waste...707 328-7448 (that's 707 eat-$^#&).

Does that mean they cancelled plans to plant Pike to eradicate both the stripers and the sharks?
