Big-time excitement was in the air as 22 teams got ready to take on Lake Casitas in the first night fishing event of the 2014 season. Scheduling this WON BASS "Casitas Nights" season opener in the month of May allowed the anglers to compete for eight full hours and many of the teams reported catching over 30 bass during the course of the evening. WON BASS Casitas veterans Richard Rawnsley and David Henderson went to work with a crank bait and did most of their damage in the last two hours of fishing and put together a 20.95 pound bag of bass and collected $1,700.00 in cash for their efforts and took an early lead in the 2014 "Casitas Nights" Angler of the Year race. In second place was the team of Don Smith and Wade Berzas as they put together a 20.24 pound bag of bass and captured second-place and $970.00 in cash. The father and son team of Ken and Kenny Webb dropped a 20 pound bag of bass on the scales and finished in third place collecting $310.00 in cash. Brothers Tim Dougherty and Mike Doherty slid into fourth place as they caught over 30 bass on a drop shot plastic worm and put together a 19.42 pound bag of bass and collected $700.00 in cash. The team of Larry Elshere and his son Eric Elshere captured the big bass of the evening which weighed 6.15 pounds and collected a smooth $880.00 in cash for making that one perfect cast. The next tournament on the WON BASS "Casitas Nights" tournament trail is June 21. Anglers interested in fishing our next event can call or text tournament director Rich Tauber at 818-439-1154. Well done Rawnsley!
We ate a HUGE dose of humble pie this weekend... talking about a brutal evening for us.

Team Elshere
Don’t be so hard on yourselves. You can’t win them all, and in the past you have won more than most. I saw on the posting that you may have had mechanical difficulties with your boats live well system. Please feel free to call me if you need any help with your pump or wiring. Congratulations on the BIG fish of the event.
Good Fishing,
Zank

Livewells worked like a charm ALL night. Had plenty of catch and lrelease formula on the fish as well. Just one of those deals where nothing went too great for us other than getting the lunker of the night.
