HDS 8 Gen 2 or HDS 7 Touch?

I'm stuck on which pair of electronics to get for my boat. Would you go with the HDS 8 Gen 2 or HDS 7 Touch? Which one would you pick and why? I'm just an avid Weekend Warrior and will fish occasional team tournaments on the Northern Cali waters.

I have used the HDS 8 Gen 2 for over a year now it's a great unit... but recently upgraded to the touch systems and they FLY! I love the touches as it's super fast to navigate the screens and set waypoints and more.

I like the 7 touch also! I just don't like the screen size. Man... this decision is tough.

I was in the same dilemma and went with a touch 7.

I like that you don't need a structure scan module mounted somewhere in the boat. I also like being able to enter and name waypoints quickly. Typing in the waypoint name on the screen is much easier than scrolling through to find the letters you want to enter.

I think there are pros and cons to both ideas. You will be happy either way. It depends on how important the bigger screen is to you. I think we have gone way over the top with the electronics in the past few years. Its crazy to see guys spend 6K on em without blinking an eye.

I was getting ready to place my order on the touch screens and was informed that there were problems with the touch pad. Anyone else have this issue? If not, HDS Touch it will be.
