I'm going to casitas next wed. and staying till sat. I have never been there before and was wondering what was working there. I saw the reports and they said swimbaits. Can someone tell me what kind of swimbaits are working and where to fish them.
Thanks for any info,
Bryant

Throw a Huddleston #5 in the brush, or fish a # 12 in 20 to 30 for staging fish. Good Luck! Chuck and wind all day.

Re: Going to Casitas
The bite apparently has picked up since I was there 1 1/2 weeks ago. They are experiencing a late spawn up there much like a lot of our local lakes this year. I wouldn't expect to see a ton of big bed fish around because of all of these rogue fronts that have been rolling through so. cal. However, these storms were pretty warm and you will see some on beds. If you want to catch a bunch of keeper sized fish up to 4 lbs, it isn't that difficult. Basically dropshot a 6" Roboworm (oxblood light) and fish real tight to the bank. The fish are in the trees and either spawning or staging. Concentrate on the usual spring areas (Station Canyon, Wadleigh). From my recent experience, I didn't get any swimbait fish and I don't think that the swimbait bite is that good right now. However, that lake is unpredictable and you should definitely give it a shot. We had a real fun time out there and the action was getting pretty good at times as long as you were using the 6" Roboworm. Good luck.
