Hi guys,
I currently have a new HDS7 Touch and am going to buy another for the bow. I've never had structure scan so I'm wondering what is beneficial to mount on the trolling motor as far as transducers go and whether I need to spend the extra money on another LSS2 for the front.
I currently have an LSS2 on back as well as the skimmer sonar transducer.
1. I like the idea of having down scan on the bow, I know I can access the LSS2 on the back but that means what I'm seeing now is 18 feet behind me and I missed it. So, my question here is: Do I shell out for another LSS2 for the front to mount on the trolling motor so I have down scan? Should I just stick to the skimmer transducer for sonar?
2. If given the option and money wasn't a concern would you do a LSS2 and sonar skimmer on the trolling motor? I'm wondering if there is enough space to mount them both. What would your preference be or what have you done?
Thanks,
Darren

Re: Bow transducer preferences HDS 7 pair
Darren, take a look at the length of the LSS-2 ducer. If you put that ducer on a trolling motor, there will be no room for a 83/200 broadband sonar ducer. If you only want the Structure Scan at the bow, your golden, if you want both sonar types on the bow, you will need to find an LSS-1 ducer which is smaller and a puck and LSS-1 transducers will fit on a trolling motor. To allow the LSS-1 ducer to plug into the back of a Touch unit, you will need a converter cable from Lowrance. You should check to see if they are still available before you purchase an LSS-1 ducer.
As for preferences, that is an individual choice. Think about it and decide. I will say, the majority of fishermen do not have both ducers on their trolling motors.

Re: Bow transducer preferences HDS 7 pair
HI,Darren
I had the same problem deciding, I thought about spotlight scan as it gives you sonar, downscan and surround scan. However after meeting Ken and discussing the pros & cons I decided to use the DSI transducer up front it gives you sonar and downscan you just have to tell your unit witch transducer to use.
I purchased this, Lowrance 000-10976-001 Transducer and waiting for delivery.
I hope this helps and Ken I hope I got it right and it was great to meet you.
