I am in the planning stages of purchasing carpeting, and padding for a re-carpet job on my boat. Before I buy materials, I have a couple of questions.
1. What is the standard formula for the amount of carpet I should buy, double the length of my boat, 1-1/2 times the length?
2. I definitely want carpet padding on the front deck, but I'm also considering padding the cockpit, and the rear deck. Does anyone ever pad these areas as well as the front deck?
Thank you in advance for your recommendations.

Re: Re-Carpeting the boat
I would not but padding under the carpet as time goes on the padding wear out and your carpet becomes lose
also go on ebay and you can get your carpet cheap doing my son boat right now

Re: Re-Carpeting the boat
When I did mine I bought my carpet from Bass Cat . I had an 18'4" ( champ )and they recommend to buy extra like 4-5' longer so you don't come up short. Go with the 40 weight which is like padding. Save your old carpet to use as a temp plate to cut. Their carpet comes 8' wide
