Hot Maps Platinum problem solved

Post by mark poulson »

First of all, thanks to Tshombe Moore, I got my Navionics Hot Maps Platinum problem fixed.
I found out I have the Platinum chip, not the Premium. So much for my reading skills.
I emailed Tshombe, and he got back to me right away. He put me in touch with Ashley Oliveira, from the Navionics online support staff.
Ashley emailed me the link to the website help tab, and, once I opened it, she was able to do the actual work for me.
Turns out, one of the problems I had was I had a thumbdrive backup still stuck in the side of my monitor, and that was keeping the Navionics site from opening my card reader with the Platinum chip in it. Once I removed my external backup zipdrive, she found my other problem. I had never unlocked the chip itself (I never knew chips had locks). Once I unlocked it, Ashley was able to load the updates onto my chip. It took her all of ten minutes to figure out my problem (I can't read), and get it to load.
The updates took about 45 minutes to load, and that was it! It told me when it was finished, I took the reader out of the USB port, and put the chip back into my 997C.
It runs like a dream. No more automatic shutoff and reboot.
And there is even more detail on my maps now.
All it took was a guy, Tshombe, willing and able to do his job, and a gal, Ashley, willing and able to do hers. Thank goodness they both knew what they were doing, because I was lost!
Attitude plus effort equal success!
Thanks to you both.

I was just about to not read my instructions on my Hot Maps Premium. I will unlock, but I'm keeping my phone handy just in case.

I am glad that you were able to get help. I am also glad that you were able to get your card updated. Now you have the freshest data.

That was a great lesson for others to learn from.

Let us know how we can help.

George,
Keep those glasses on. That thing is hard to see, unless you know it's there!
