Trolling Motor Repair Help!

Post by bass king »

Anyone have any experience replacing a "switch" in a transom mount 55 thrust minn kota trolling motor??

I was told this is most likely the problem. The prop does not turn when powering the motor on, however the red lights on top of the motor which read how much battery juice is left still work and light up. I took off the prop and theres nothing in there prohibiting it from spinning. Seems like a possible fuse issue? What is a "Switch" anyway???

Could I have burned out a fuse? Any ideas? Reccomendations??

Thank YOU!

Transom mount? I haven't worked on those personally but if anybody is willing to give you advice and that advice is going to be accurate I would call Gene at the Hook Line and Sinker. He is extremely knowledgable and even more helpful.

If you ran it for a long period of time without shutting it of you might have burnt the armature. If it is the switch it is very easy to replace. If you did burn the armature it is repairable.
