Shimano spool fix/replacement

I have a new shimano Stradic 5000fj sw and somehow the ring on my spool got dinged badley. Is there any way to polish down the spool or do I have to replace it? New spool is like $70. I appreciate any help or suggestions .

Are you talking abut the lip of the spool? Where the line makes contact?

You can sand it down and polish it if you do not want to buy a replacement spool.
