Bug Splatter

Any suggestions on removing bug splatter other than thumb nail and grandkids? Just goy off Clear Lake and I have never seen it like this. Solid from bow to mid ship. Stopped at the car wash and the power washer did not even put a dent in it. 2 minute wash almost cleaned 6 inches.

Simple green and a bug sponge from the auto parts store

Safe and Easy All purpose cleaner and let it soak then you have to scrub on them a bit but it'll make it WAY easier. The bonus is afterwards you've got the bottle for your everyday cleaning of your boat, cause it will take the "clearlake" right off without scrubbing! Clearlake outdoors and Clearlake Bait and Tackle both carry the products.

I would spray the boat down with a hose every 15 minutes. After 3-4 of doing this the bugs should be soft enough to blow off with a strong hose or pressure washer.
I was planning on heading to CL in a week or so. How bad are the bugs out there? Do you need one of those mesh head nets?

The bugs have been brutal. I launched out of lake port and ran down the Red Bud arm. The boat and I were covered. Tried all types of ting to get them off. Needed the wifes finger nails. Super hot water and bug sponge did nothing. Worked on it for 2 hours and got about 80% off the hull. Still have the winshields, and seats. Went fishing yesterday and launched out of the Oaks and stayed close until later in the day. My project for this weekened is to get rid of the rest of the bug splatter.

Sea Foam Bugs B Gone. By far and way the best and easiest stuff to use. Will not damage anything I am aware of. Can also put in your wiper fluid.

Guys, I've found that if I spray a little WD40 on a rag and wipe the front of the boat to get a lite film of WD40 on it and completely cover the engine with a film, it will clean up much easier. Been doing it for years at Clear Lake and Mead. Hope it helps in the future.

I use a plastic credit card. Pops those suckers right off. Then use your favorite spray and wipe clean.

Never thought abot a credit card. Will put Mr. Visa to work tomorrow to clean up what was left. As for WD40 I would need to spray the boat windshields seats and electronics. Thought about putting a coat of vasaline on the bow. Credit card might be the trick. Thanks

This sounds nuts, old detail shop trick, use 0000 steel wool, dry, works like a charm and does not scratch the glass a single bit.

I use those car bondo plastic spreaders. They come in a pack of 4 and all different sizes. Just the right amount of stiffness to scrape the bugs without scratching the gelcoat...they work great

The credit card method worked perfectly today at clearlake, thx for the tip. Unfortunately it took lots of elbow grease to get the ash off the boat.

Let's hope the awesome firemen can get a handle on the fire.
