I got that rod and it is a great little stick. The powell rods are well worth it. They are just pure quality. I won mine in the fantasy bass league opener and have caught a ton of fish on it, and will seriously give powell's other rods a look when in the market for another stick.

Awesome rods!!

First off, there is either the 6'8 or 7 footers. I personaly like the seven footers for the extra distance you get from the length of the rod. Kinda of a preference thing.

What is nice is the versatility, you can use them for drop shotting and split shotting.

I also like the extra length the 7 footer provides. You pick more line up with the seven footer than the 6'8. When drop shotting or split shottin the extra line pick up with the 7 footer is always helpful.

The 681 and 701 would be for a little lighter application.

The 682 or 702 a little heavier.

I have been changing all my rods over to POWELL.

If there is anything else I can help you with let me know.

The frog/pitchin rod is awesome(735). Also, there is a swimbait line coming soon.

Thanks

The 681 L extra/fast is the rod I prefer for throwing 1/16th & 1/8th dartheads on Oroville/Shasta/Berryessa. I have (2) of them and couldn't be happier. I use the 702ml extra/fast for throwing tubes and jigs 1/8th, 3/16th & 3/8th oz. Great rods but you should get a rod sock to put them in/ if they get a scar from bouncing around in the locker, the tips are prone to this, they could break. I had this happen on berryessa in rough water. Good luck and good fishing.

Hi Max,

Many of the fishermen that we are seeing purchasing these rods for the application you inquire about are tending to lean toward the 2 powers in the ML Ex-Fast, or the Ex-Fast 1 power.

I hope that all of the info provided helps you in your decision.

If I can be of any further assistance to you, or if you need any additional questions answered, please feel free to give us a ring at Powell at (415) 382-9745.

Keith,

I also won one of your rods in the Fantasybasstour.com contest. Thank you and AC Pro Shop. Its a 686 CB. In your opinion, what would be the best application to use this specific model crankbait/ripbait rod for? Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

You have good luck so it would seem whatever you tie on might just raise the titanic.

The 686CB is great for 128’s, shad raps, bigger CB’s like a DD22, Rattle Traps, etc. Some even like to throw top water and other stuff.

Keep chucking and Tight Lines to ya, and we appreciate your support.

I also use the Powell 702 ML Fast. I don't use many 7ft rods but when fishing underspins I like the added casting distance and the line sweep with a longer rod. So I 5th the Powell 702 ML Fast :)

...on Sunday, April 30th for the Fed Delta Dual out of Ladd's and will remain there for the Stren Series tournament. (I will be staying in Brentwood with my good friend Tony Mello). Perhaps we can get together for dinner one night.
