Launching a yak in the Delta
Launching a yak in the Delta
Hey folks,
My wife and I recently picked up a couple of Hobie yaks and wanted to try delta fishing for the first time. Where do you recommend us launching from so we don't have to travel too far to get into some decent spots? I know Frank's and Big Break don't have any launches nearby (to my knowledge), so I'm looking for some advice on other areas that are accessible to the public.
My only experience on the delta is launching on a boat out of Pittsburg.
Thanks a ton!

There are marinas by franks, however the wind may limit your opportunities.
That aside B&W & Paradise point both have good launches and offer decent fishing close to the launch.

I've gone out of Rivers End many times. Also, just past Orwood, cross the bridge and turn left. There is an area that is dirt ad not too steep.

I've seen a number of people launching out of Discovery Bay to kayak/fish and avoid some of the wind.

You can launch from Russo's Marina, on Franks. C-spanvideo.org/program/Foote
There is also a marina at the end of Big Break road with a launch ramp.

Went out for about 3 hours today and stuck 4. No scale on me, but one was on the higher end of 3-4lbs. Others were relatively tiny.
