When bed fishing, it takes many many flips to get the fish to hit. Right? Then any lure moving by may not get a hit at all, they will just let it move on by.
Unless you find some pre-spawn or post spawn areas beds may be all ya got.

We struggled as well. Only 3 fish to show for it. We saw they were very skittish and we tried fishing deeper water but only caught one from the deeper water. While we were trying the deeper docks we saw a huge bass sunning itself underneath, we were even able to show it 3 pitches before it moved off

We lived up there for 20 years and just loved this time of year !
We have found that fish just starting to bed are the hardest to catch, still very spooky and in shallow water ; tough. we hate crusers. We have found bed fish that are finally locked on beds, the easiest to catch, or fish guarding nests. Man its fun to watch a good ole momma 10lb basssuck in a bait and blow it out in less time than you can say "hey" . You gotta be fast on the trigger !
But we do release them right there where we caught them. Make much more Bass for us all.

thank you

I was there friday and we had a heck of a day! We culled out our 3.6 at 8:30 am! We caught every fish on senkos outside the tules. I think the major thing is that people are getting stuck on the sight fishing mode. It is really hard to get away from doing that when you see giants everywhere. We just backed off the tule points and casted senkos. I had a few nice followers on a MS Slammer as well. One followed it and then fell for a senko afterwards.
We did get one 5.1 on a bed.
Overall I'de say dont get seduced by the bed fish, and work the cruisers instead.

Ryan, you hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately I did read your post until after today's ABA tourney.
