Summertime Ocean Beach HEATWAVE Fishing With Clam Baits

You can still have lots of action in the middle of summer fishing on the beach. There are lots of things going on the cold beach floor. I like to surf fish the beach with small clam baits on hot summer days. We were in a heatwave so I took the opportunity to slow down and fish clam baits on small hooks. Fun thing about this, is you never know what you’ll catch. I rigged up on a standard high low rig spread out. Kinda like you would on a party boat. I used 4oz bank sinkers and #2 and #4 Gamikatsu Octopus hooks with about 8" of 40-50lb leader. Had a few robins, loads of sand sharks, fluke and a few kingfish for the cooler. I threw some big chunks of bunker bait later on at night for a big ray. Pretty fun out there, as I am thinking on it now I may change my plans and do this all again today but well see!
