How long before clearlake comes down - see info here

Post by Catmantwo »

Clearlake Cache Creek outflow history:

Flow tests were conducted during the winter of 1937-38 to determine what would happen if there was not a dam on Cache Creek. The Dam was fully opened on January 31, when Clear Lake was at 6.30 Rumsey to allow Clear Lake outflows to be completely controlled by Cache Creek. During this flow test, Clear Lake rose to 10.25 on February 15, fell to 8.6 by March 11, rose to 9.7 feet on March 25, and receded to 7.30 feet on April 18, when the gates were closed. During this flow test, peak inflows were estimated to be as high as 41,000 cfs, while the peak outflow of Clear Lake was 4,255 cfs. This clearly demonstrated that the Clear Lake Dam does not cause the flooding of Clear Lake.

Looks like at least 3 weeks once it stops raining. It's 10.55 now ad I don't expect boating restrictions to be lifted before it hits 9 (either closed or 5mph).

Great info--thanks for sharing. Hoping it comes down quickly, not to fish, but for the residents and locals to get back to normal life. I'm sure a lotta people lost a lot with all that flooding.

That being said--does anyone know of anybody or charity that is helping those affected by the flooding up there? We as bass fisherman love the lake, and obviously spend a lot of money up there, but is there anything we can actually do to help?

This is what most of the streets in the (new) Keys looks like. The gutters drain into the sewer system and the water district pumps them to the water treatment plant (up hill) and it cannot keep up with the rain/runoff. The (old) keys is worse (lower elevation), some evacuations there due to impassable roads.

The other photos are from the backyard - its over the retaining wall (and rising slightly - also due to runoff).
