Does anybody know of any places around Chico California where you can catch big bluegill or crappie?

Lake Berryessa is known for big crappie, bluegill and red ears. Black Butte lake is near Chico and has crappie, not sure how big they get, lots of Shad to feed on.

When I was a kid, granted that was 50 years ago, we used to fish Black Butte Lake and in those days it was a premier crappie fishery. We would tie off to dead timber and fish vertically and catch scores of good sized fish. I have no idea the current condition of the fishery, but it's only about 30 miles from Chico.
