Rules that were broken at the Ambassador.
There was a team close to us that had been catching fish also and we could hear them talking on a Nextel radio. They were telling someone that they had 20 some pounds already and where they were fishing. ( 1 rule broken)
We went down the bank a little way and came back in 15 min. This time there were two boats looked like they may have been touching ( 2 rules broken) Then they went apart as we approached. The first boat that was there took off to another spot and the other boat stayed there. If that was the other boat they talked to by radio then now you have (3.spot saving also) The other boat returned later and the other left. I am sure enough people read on here in hopes that they might not try to do this again. I am sure they did well (in the money) but rules are there to be followed not broken. They were a young team. I would hate to have up coming teams try to get away with stuff like this. I hate to be labeled as a whiner. But I am sick of people trying to get away with stuff. If nothing is said at all then it will happen again.
We could have had them DQed. Next time I will. LEAVE YOUR NEXTEL'S AT HOME AT TOURNEY TIME.
Here are the rules boys if ya don't know.
1.hole sitting will not be tolerated and shall be cause for disqualification
2.The transmitting of information with any radio-transmitted device (i.e. CB radio or Cellular phone) concerning any aspect of the taking of fish during a tournament is prohibited. This includes information relative to location, type of lures employed, number of fish caught, water depths, and temperature or any other information that could help another improve their position in the tournament. Any infractions of these fundamental sporting principles may be deemed cause for disqualification.
3.No two boats may touch or appear to touch during tournament hours. This includes non-contestant boats as well as tournament boats.

imbo you shouldve got em dq'ed. then remember their names and do something dirty.......
Re: Rules that were broken at the Ambassador.
Did you bring this information to the attention of the Tournament Director at the weigh in? Not saying that you didn't BassinDon, but most people's M.O.'s is to not say anything for fear of not being liked; or worse.
Most Tournament Orgs require notice, usually in writing, within 30 minutes of the end of the event.
For anything to happen that will make the changes desired, something needs to be officially stated. Until people realize that rules violators will be "self - policed" by other competitors and turned into Tournament Staff, these kinds of situations will continue.
It needs to be applied consistently across all tournaments by the competitors.

Not being liked? Do people actually keep their mouth shut cuz some deusche might not like them? or is it something more than that?

Bassindon,
I think you made a big mistake....Many years ago I was DQ'D for what I thought was an innocent mistake.. But I can quarantee you that I will never make that mistake again...I believed that an innocent rules violation was no big deal, however it has haunted me ever since..
When anyone breaks the rules of a tournament it hurts everyone. If my money was in that tournament and I lost position in the payout because another team cheated and you knew about it, it directly hurt me.....and my pocketbook!!!!!!
I can guarantee you they will cheat again and again, until someone stands up and files a protest.. Everyone knows the rule about using cell phones in a tournament. If you do nothing else please call the tournament director immediately and inform him or her of what you saw and heard. It will not make a difference in the tournament you fished, however the director will be aware of the infraction and the parties so if there is a repeat rules violation, a permanent Blacklisting would not be out of order!!!!
PLEASE!!! CALL NOW!!!!

Re: Rules that were broken at the Ambassador.
For the life of me I could not tell you what boat they were in. It was an older boat I believe. I was to busy fishing to worry about what boat they were in at that time. If they were standing in front of me I am not sure if I could say who they were either. I would have to see them in the boat to know for sure.(boat posture) LOL!
All things happened after dark. I would have had to approach them and spot light them to get all information. I did not. So I am trying to say at least something to make them aware of what may happen if they try it again. We all some times make a mistake from time to time. My mistake was not doing something about it.
That's why I am posting this. So at least something is said. Like I said Next time I will do what needs to be done. This is the first time I have seen any kind of Breaking of rules. I was so busy trying to do my own thing that I just let it all slide.
Some guys say I am to nice. Maybe so.

Re: Rules that were broken at the Ambassador.
Don, Unfortunatley you could not identify them so you could file a protest or else as you stated those are two rules violations which would cause disqualification. As far as the Tournament went, we had one team which was penalized Two Pounds for being late (2 minutes) to check in and one team that was cut off (within casting distance) by another but nothing came of it. Thanks to all the teams that came out and fished and those who showed up for the weigh-in and raffle.
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.

HEY DON,
Iwas one of the teams that lugnut was talking about. We were cut off by another boat within casting distance i could have actually casted a 1/8 once bullet weight and a 3/0 hook with a 4 inch worm in there boat. And i brought it to some ones attention about what is the distance they needed to be we tryed finding it in the rules nothing was on a yellow piece of paper. He said he would find out and let me know no answer by that time the 30 minute rule was up.The sad thing was i knew the cf numbers of the boat. And i know now who it was.I was one p.o ed s.o.b.I was fighting mad.But i kept my cool knowing it is not worth it.and by the way that rig was also on a curado reel with 17 lb test line that is how close they were.i beleive it is a 50 yard distance if i remember right.
Don, I tried finding you to show you that pole i built after the awards maybe i was to tired and blind to find you.

Re: Rules that were broken at the Ambassador.
Make them all draw tournys and theres no question about broken rules if the guy running the boat brake a rule your both DQ from the tourny simple. IT MAY NOT SEEM FAIR BUT CHEATING WILL STOP!
Lippy that 50 yard rule is a tough one
Not that I don't agree with you..But most people just have no concept of 50 yards...Secondly, most 50 yard rules say anchored with trolling motor up. They all seem to forget that part. I really like Kornys' no distance rule...Saves a lot of argument...That is why I have spent countless hours learning off shore and suspending fish patterns...as for the phone deal Don talks about..Well Don just takes pictures of his fish with his camera phone and then sends them to you so you feel bad
Don hope to see you on the 24th when Joe and I go for three AC Pedro night tournys in a row..All those bank bass should be gone by then

Re: Hey Johnny
Your to...funny! LOL!
You are right the bank bass bite takes place every year at night up there but it is about two to three weeks later this year. I said all along that everyone is going to catch fish on this one. I hope they go back to june so it is tough for most again LOL!
I don't know if I can make that one, 24th is that this month or june?. Maybe I can go and help with the weigh in or something, That would be fun too. If it is June it will be ok if it's May I will still be on my Honeymoon.
Hope to see ya soon.

Re: Lippy that 50 yard rule is a tough one
Johnny,
Yea and no not to cause a big fude it is just common curtiousy to give a guy some room. The laws i read never stated that, they said 50 yards from another competitors boat.Well it was more like 30-40 feet and they got right in front of us a started fishing the same way we were going.Bad thing about the no distance rule is say someone sees you and knows you are fish come over and get right upon you,So you move and here they come again that would really more than likely get some people so mad to hurt someone, which is not what we need in this sport.
The old saying i fish there for i lie
not this time it is true

Re: Lippy that 50 yard rule is a tough one
Those kind of guys are out there for sure..I usually just move too..But if they are really close I may have a chat with them..Last year a club was on Melones and I was out prefishing...Two guys were on this long point drop shottin in 50..I came up and ripped the point fron ten yards out and they came unglued...That is horseshit and I said do you want to switch spots...They said no they were working in and out on the 100 yard long point..So I said how about I fish outside of you then (now you see I knew they were in 60)...They said that would be better..I stuck 5 good ones, smiled and left..Such is a day on the lake...
