All I know is the stuff is EXPENSIVE! Sure, they look nice, but wow are they pricey. What makes them so much better than even Lucky Craft lures, which most guys I would think consider top of the line.
Also, how about their rods. Are they much better than anything out there? I though $300 was hard to swallow, but these things go up to about $500!
I have a couple rods, they are very very nice. But what i have heard is that their drop shot rods have all been copied by g.loomis. The rods i have probably arent worth the extra 200 bucks, but i like them....
its like the difference between lures, why spend 20 if you can catch fish on a 10 dollar lure, because someone is doing better on any given day on the 20 dollar lure, you gotta have them.
There is a big difference in the baits and a reason for the pricing. For Megabass they are designed by a top notch team headed by Mr. Ito. Who does lucky craft have? Nobody special. There baits (Sammy, pointers and CB's and LV's) were all designed by Mr. Seji Kato who also designed the Team Daiwa TD Minnows and now owns his own company called Jackall.
As for the rods, megabass rods are top notch and I would take one of them over any G-Loomis. Now if you want the best Japanese rod you have to consider Evergree as they are the most popular here in Japan. I don't just say this as I have an endorsement deal with them cause you can't even buy them in the states. There baits however are also designed by one of Japanes most popular fisherman and lure designer Mr. Kikumoto, Mr. Imae ane Morizo Shimizu.
Megabass is worth the extra money as is Evergreen. As with cars you get what you pay for but then again those cheap 5$ lures Walmart still sells work too..
I will always push Evergreen. I believe the baits they make are awesome. What baits I have are great stuff and also well made.Mega bass makes some good stuff also but I just have not had much luck with there stuff. I will also say that Evola makes a great rod that many of you don't know about. I am always looking at the Japanese stuff made and have found some incredible stuff. Pricey ....yes but many times worth the money when you see how well the baits are made.

I have 2 "Aaron Martens" Megabass dropshot rods and they are world class. Very sensative, light and worth the $. Before Megabass, the Evola drop shot rod is by far the best, and about $200.00 less than a Megabass rod. I figured if they were good enough for Aaron, they were good enough for me. Rick G.

Many of the Japanese Domestic Products are a notch or two or three above American Market counterparts from a simple standpoint of detailing. Megabass products especially have some insane detailing. Almost every single one of their rods is different - not just the between the different lines, mind you, but the actual individual rods!
The components themselves are made by Fuji but designed by Megabass Founder and CEO, Yuki Ito. Mr. Ito receives royalties from Fuji for his component designs.
To top it off, not only are the Megabass rods works of art, but they are very high performing rods. Are they worth the cash? Not to everyone, but if you value slick looking, high performing equipment, these rods can make you smile from ear to ear no matter how your day of fishing is going.
Same goes for Evergreen, Daiko, Nories, Palms, Daiwa Japan, Shimano Japan, and a bunch of others.
As for the baits, yeah, they're a hard pill to swallow price wise. But just ask Hollywood and others familiar with Megabass baits about the Vision-X 110. This bait retails normally for roughy $25 with guys paying in excess of $100 for these things on eBay. I'm not saying all their baits work well, but if you're going to try one... pick up that bait and give it a whirl sometime.
