Never buy a Phenix rod!!!

Post by Mike »

I just wanted to see if Ty was looking. It's been 10 months now and still no rods and no return call for the last 4 months. I've got two more in the garage broke too, but why spend the 20 bucks to send them in if you never get anything back! Oh well.....Live and learn.

WoW!!!

Not a peep!! I have 6 Phenix rods and cherish them all, however I think I would rather just throw them away when they break, rather than spend $20, wait 10 months and still not hear from the guy!!!!

Sorry too hear the problem with Ty... There is no real excuse for not responding to you!!!! First rule in business is good communication!!!

NEVER leave a customer hanging!!!!!

I had 10! Now I'm down to 6. I've been slowing replacing them with a bunch of different brands. On any given day I have Loomis, Kistler, St. Croix, Phenix, Shimano, and Lamaglass rods on the deck!!

I've never had a problem getting a rod taken care of from Ty. He just moved his shop in the last month or so. Call Pat at Proline and ask for Ty's cell. I dont have Ty's cell # handy.

How are you breaking these rods? I've never owned a Phenix rod, but I do build rods and I would be interested in knowing how you break so many rods. Are you setting the hook super hard with braided line or something? :?:

No, I have never broke one on the hookset, and that what I like about their flipping sticks. I use braid too. I broke one cranking rod bouncing a 2 pound fish, Broke one flipping stick running in rough water. (rods were strapped down, and when I stopped one was broke about 10" down) I have one flipping stick that wont extend?? Stuck in the down posision.

Ty, was having problems getting blanks that were quality enough for the Phenix name, but he now has a great new blank supplier and should be up and running anytime now. We just ordered a big batch for our store. Give him a month and he will take care of you I'm sure. Rick G.

Phenix Rods is in the procees of relocating. I'm very sorry about your situation. Please call on their new business line (909) 584-7941. They are still on of the best rods in the business.

If I needed to come to this site to get some satisfaction on a broken rod it would be a done deal.....I haven't owned a phenix since 92...the mighty ( and they WERE ) have come down a peg. Customer satisfaction and service is what it was/is all about. As the old sticks go south just replace them ....I haven't had a problem with a Loomis ever and I've had some of mine since 88  ...It's true and I am a dyed in the wool honest believer that you'll not go wrong with anything they make. There is One rod in my boat that's not Loomis...It's not often and it really is a pole rather than a rod  ..

Ty is the man. He will do whatever to help you out. The move slowed things down for sure.

Mike, if you are buying some new rods, I could build you some custom. I just built my buddy Eric a crankin' rod with a new Rainshadow blank that turned out really nice.

sorry... but his so called excuses just plain suck!!! I have to chime in here and add my disgust for how this guy treats his customers and runs a business. I posted on here about a yr or so ago, similar situation... the dude finally sent me a 'rod'(after 6 months), not even the right one!! then demanded that I immediately send payment for the shipping. What a clown. I WILL NEVER purchase a Phenix rod again AND will offer my opinions to those who ask.
