I was reading some stuff on Lake Oroville what with the FPT being there this Saturday. I noticed that DFG has a slot limit on Oroville that states " No fish between 12" and 15" can be Possesed even if future release is planned"
That brought up a simple question. How are we as FPT fisherman supposed to find this out? Is this simple one of those things we are supposed to know or find out on our own? I guess it could be the sole responsibility of the fisherman to know things like this. Since we are the ones doing the fishing we should know. but I wonder how often this happens, that there are local rules that could be broken if we don't put out some effort out to find these things.
And one finale question comes to mind, well maybe two questions. Would the FPT staff weigh in a limit of fish that all were 14 7/8ths of an inch long? And the second i wonder if that FPT staff know about this slot limit?

Life is not a journey to the grave, with the intention of arriving in one pretty and well preserved piece. But to slide in broadside, throughly used up and worn out shouting "WOW" what a ride.

Re: DFG Slot Limit On Oroville
The FPT has applied for and recieved a "slot waiver" that allows the anglers in the tournament to keep fish within the slot. All of the orgnaizations get this waiver and I believe it is only the clubs that don't apply for it.

State law/regulations show the slot limit for Oroville Lake. The only exception to it, is for large tournaments (with waiver from F&G) and never for small club tournaments. So unless you enter a large tournament and they have the waiver, you always have to follow state law. Bill K

Not sure what the definition of small is but I believe if you apply for the permit properly (as opposed to a club turkey shoot) you can get the waiver.
I fish club tournaments that are limited to 25 boats, although in practice we average in the low teens.
