Don Pedro places to stay
Don Pedro places to stay
Looking to book a boat/fisherman friendly hotel near Pedro but I'm not really familiar with the area. Looking for suggestions. Thanks in advance Westernbass
Re: Don Pedro places to stay
There is nothing close to Pedro:
Oakdale / Sonora / Coulterville are the closest.... and they are not that close
Don't think there is anything in Waterford
If you are just fishing for a day ..... drive from San Jose

Thanks. I was looking to stay the weekend. Is AirBnB the option these days for the Motherlode area?

There are a few places on VRBO that are close to the lake and look boat friendly. Search La Grange VRBO.
Re: Don Pedro places to stay
Contact the marina, they sometimes will rent rooms on the house boats. There is also camp grounds if that is in your comfort level. The WWBT used Black Oak casino as there host hotel, that is a fair distance to the lake at Fleming or Blue Oaks launch. Mocassin ramp would be closer but it will still be about 30 minutes.
Melones is more user friendly as there are hotels in Angels Camp that are close to the lake and the RV park across from Glory Hole has small cabins you can rent.
Also Tulloch has the small cabins right on the water and you would be about 30 minutes to Blue Oaks ramp at Pedro.

Your best bet is to stay at one of the campgrounds at the lake.Fleming Meadow's and Blue Oaks both have great spots to camp with Power to charge your batteries.
You can pitch a tent or sleep in your vehicle.

What is VRBO ?bassmonkey wrote:There are a few places on VRBO that are close to the lake and look boat friendly. Search La Grange VRBO.
The population of LaGrange is about 75 ..... and that includes the 25 who are at the Bar on a weekend
Re: Don Pedro places to stay
Thanks for the great suggestions. I'm going to look into all of them. Although all of the vrbo and Airbnb ones look to be 2 night minimum (looking for Friday night only). Ill be sure to post what I find.

Anyone have any input on Yosemite Gold Country Lodge in Coulterville? My buddy found it.
Re: Don Pedro places to stay
Try Jamestown and Sonora, couple of decent hotels there. Probably 30-40 minutes.
Re: Don Pedro places to stay
My day 3 AM for the Pedro WWBT stayed there. He didn't say anything negative about the place but if you look at the reviews on Trip Advisor they're pretty bad. The Suites in the pics look pretty nice. I wouldn't be surprised if their lower priced rooms were dumps so be careful if you book.
Re: Don Pedro places to stay
We used to stay there a couple times a year. Rooms were clean and the guy running it then was nice enough. Bar b que out front , but bring your own briquets. Plug ins too charge. Parking is a little tight but doable. Nice road back to Fleming. But check road conditions. Sign on 99 says something about detour.

I have stayed at the Yosemite Gold Country Lodge in Coulterville a dozen or so times. Nice clean place with ample boat parking right outside your room with electrical. They have 2 community fire pits and bbq's. Dining options are limited in Coulterville. 30 min to Fleming meadows launch.

Thanks everyone for the advice. My friend booked Yosemite Gold Country Lodge in Coulterville after talking with the owner(maybe?). Sounded nice enough for a couple of bass fisherman with electrical hookups and close to Fleming.
I will check the roads too before the trip.

Hwy 132 is closed between Coulterville and Fleming Launch. You will have to take Hwy 49 north but this will put you at Mocassin Ramp on the upper end of the lake. Winding slow road but doable.
If you are set on fishing the lower end of the lake around Fleming your looking at about 45 to an hour.

I did notice the closure between Fleming Meadows launch and Coulterville, but I it looks like there is a way around it according to Google maps.
