1988 Champion 184 sc $2500

Post by Jace D »

Listing my brother's 1988 Champion 184

PRICE DROP. NEED TO SELL. $2500

This is an 18 foot single console.

-Mercury XRi 200hp Fuel injected outboard
-Mercury Tempest plus 26p in perfect condition (27p re-pitched and worked by Steves Custom props)
-Motorguide x3 70lb
-newer (replaced last year) dual cable steering
-3 deep cycle batteries all hold long charge
-front deck extension
-Registration good through 2019

The boat is solid but needs a little TLC and it will be a fantastic boat for someone looking to get into the sport. I will list any issues up front. Not looking to hide anything.

The outboard starts easily and idles perfectly but there is an issue with the ECU that causes the boat to not want to get on plane at times. It needs a new or rebuilt ECU. The compression is great (110-120 psi on all six cylinders). Also, it doesn't like to shift into reverse. It will do it, but just seems to want to grind too much before shifting. Not sure why, could be a simple adjustment. Forward gear is perfect. The steering is nearly new and is very smooth.

The carpet is a little rough around the edges but is still good on the decks. The seats are rough and could be replaced soon. The front deck extension is one solid piece and can be removed easily if needed. No flex or movement on the extension.
The livewell pump runs but has a hard time priming for some reason. The livewell has a flow-rite control installed with empty, recirc and auto settings.

The hull is very solid. No soft spots on the deck or transom.

Trailer is original champion single axle. Nothing fancy but it works fine. Surge brake system is in place but not functional. It does have the Boat Buckle ratcheting tie down straps in back. Tires are in good shape.

The Humminbird graphs are not being sold but the wiring and transducers can be left if buyer wishes.

This is not the prettiest boat around but it is a solid boat. One of the best handling and smoothest riding 18 ft boats ever made. Lots of big fish have come over the side of this boat and quite a bit of money has been won in this boat as well. I will add more photos soon.

Asking only $2500.

This is a smoking price for this rig! The powerhead alone is worth a lot. Let's get this thing sold.

All inquiries should be sent to Collin DeGough at
(559) 341-0720.

Boat is in Fresno, CA
