New guy on the water

Hey ya'll. Brand new here and not a bass fisherman.....................yet.

Been retired for a while now due to health reasons and am finally going to get a divorce settlement of which I will invest most, but am going to spend a bit of it to do something I have wanted to do for a long time. I think ya'll know where I'm going here.

I need a boat and a truck. Figure my '86 Camry won't work too good as a tow vehicle, so I'm looking to get a Ford Ranchero, preferably a '70 or '71 model. Been dreaming to get something classic for quite some time. But, that's not why I'm here.

As I said, I need a boat. Forget about those new, wiz-bang, high power, 30K plus puppies. Yea, would be nice, but the settlement ain't that big. What I'm looking for is an older 15 to 16 foot entry level boat with a decent sized motor on it. Too old to be in any great hurry. Just looking for a little boat in the 2 to 3K dollar range that will suit my needs. Seen a lot like that on eBay, but they're all back east. Know there must be some around here. I'm located near Sacramento and am willing to travel to pick something up once I get my truck, which won't be all that far away.

Ok, I've taken enough of your time. Hope I haven't bored any of you. Also, hope something might come out of this as I really want to start doing some fishing.

Thanx for the tips guys. Appreciate your time looking that up, Gator, but that 150 Merc "needs work" sounds a bit scarey. Plus I really don't want anything that big. A 25 to 50 horse on a light rig would do me just fine. Don't plan on racing to some spot to catch that tournament winning fish.

Jax, sounds like you know exactly what you want. Just do some searching and you should be able to find one. If possible, when you do find a used boat have a reputable repair shop go over the boat and motor for you. Nothing like spending a few thousand only to find that the motor is broke and cost more than you paid for the whole thing to get fixed.
