buying an Ultrex

Post by David B »

I am going to purchase an ultrex. I have a gen 2 8 on the bow with a hds gen 3 at counsel. I plan on upgrading my front graph to a 12 as well at some point. Question: What transducer should I purchase to put on the ultrex or should I use the transducer that is in the head of the unit. Thanks

If your going to upgrade then a HDi skimmer.this will give you 83/200 and down and side scan in 2d . If you stay with the hds8 the ultrex transducer will work.

I run a humminbird and my ultrex head transducer didn't work. My buddys didn't either. If it does work it is only a down image beam. No side scan. If you want this feature then you need another transducer.

I have HDS Carbon 12's on my Ranger along with an Ultrex and run a Totalscan transducer on the trolling motor. This way I have traditional Broadband Sonar, Left, Right and Down Scan of the Structure Scan right at my feet. Call Jim Slusher at Jim's Pro Bass Tackle for the trolling motor mount that will allow you to mount the longer Totalscan ducer on an Ultrex trolling motor. You can reach him at;

Jim is also the creator and manufacturer of all the Comfortroll products.
