I've looked at both, but never used either one. I like the idea of the swivel on the Gamakatsu, but not the clip for the sinker leader, nor the cost. The VMC requires another knot, but you would lose only the sinker in hangups. Does the VMC work well enough without the swivel?
Thanks....Joe
VMC Spinshot vs. Gamakatsu Swivel Shot
Re: VMC Spinshot vs. Gamakatsu Swivel Shot
I prefer the DECOY 120 hook, which is similar to the Gami but a better hook. It has the clip below that I tie the DL leader to with a double overhand knot. Then attach the DS weight. The knot prevents the upper ed from sliding out.
I also use a line 2bl test lower than my main line (ie 6lb for main line and 4lb for the DS leader).
They are available only at tackle warehouse (5 pk for about 4 bucks - cheaper than the Gami).
(You can also get them in an offset straight shank for fishing brush texas style to help prevent snags).
