BOTH Days - $300 dollars per boat (max of 2 people per boat), which includes a big fish side bet.
ELIGIBILITY: The tournament is open to active or retired law enforcement, fire department and military personnel. A minimum of one person in each boat must be from one of the above professions. This is a fun tournament geared for average fishermen who want to have fun and help raise money for charity. Full time guides and full-time professional bass fisherman or ringers are not allowed in the tournament. Contact me prior to registering if you have any questions about eligibility.
START TIME: The “Blast Off” will proceed at approximately 0530 hours each day. All boats must be inside the 5 MPH buoys near the launching facility prior to the blast off. The BLAST OFF ORDER WILL BE DETERMINED BY THE DATE YOUR PAID ENTRY FEE REGISTRATION IS RECEIVED ON EVENTBRITE.
LIVE WELL CHECKS: All live wells must be checked by a tourney referee prior to blast off.
END TIME: Approximate weigh-in time will be 1500 hours each day. There will be different weigh-in times based on the number of boats in the tournament. All boats must be inside the 5 MPH buoys at the launching facility just prior to their weigh-in times. If a boat is not inside these buoys at their designated time, that boat will be disqualified.
BAITS: No live bait is allowed during the tournament, only artificial lures.
SAFETY: All contestants must have state-approved life vests & safety gear aboard their vessel
FISHING LICENSES: A valid California fishing license is required for each team member.
SCORING: The total weight of each team will determine tournament standings and placement. Only largemouth or smallmouth bass will be weighed. The creel limit shall be five (5). At no time shall a competitor have in his/her possession more than the tournament limit. Culling must be done immediately upon catching a sixth fish. Minimum length will be 13 inches (measured on a flat board). A penalty of 1 pound will be deducted from the total weight for each short fish and a penalty of 4 ounces (.25 pounds) will be deducted from the total weight for each dead fish. In the event the anglers’ big fish is dead, a penalty of 4 ounces (.25 pounds) will be deducted from the big fish total weight. A contestant that presents more fish than the tournament limit will be disqualified immediately. Mangled, mashed, mauled or otherwise altered fish will be grounds for immediate disqualification. No regurgitated baitfish will be weighed. Fish will not be put on a stringer at any time. All live fish will be returned to the lake.
WEIGH-IN: Since we seem to have more and more boats each year, the weigh-in is getting more involved. Based on the number of boats, there will probably be different weigh-in times. Each boat may be given a specific time to weigh-in at. Fish must be brought to the Konocti Vista Casino docks in some type of fish bag containing water and fish. After the fish are weighed, they must go back into a bag with water to be taken back to the boat and then released offshore.
FISH PRESERVATION: Each boat must have a working fish live well to keep the fish alive during the duration of the tournament. It is recommended that each boat add some type of fish preservative or additive (found in tackle stores) to help keep the fish alive while inside the live wells. Per Ca. Department of Fish and Game rules that apply to Clear Lake, fish must be released 2 miles away from the weigh-in site. This responsibility will rest with each individual team and not the tournament director. Make sure you don't release the fish at the docks!
BBQ Dinner (Day-1 Only): There will be a BBQ at the Konocti Vista Casino beginning at 5:00 PM on the 1st day of the event. This time was chosen to allow for the 1st day weigh-in and prize ceremony to conclude prior to eating and to allow Day-two only registrants to join us for dinner. Your registration fee includes a meal for both team members, however, if other family members or friends would like to attend, they are always welcome. Please select the correct number of people eating with you on your registration form so the chef can prepare the appropriate amount of food. The cost for the food and beverages for non-team members is $10 per additional adult and will be collected during the BBQ. Kids eat free!
RAFFLE: There will be a raffle during and/or after the meal. Tickets will be sold during the event. Please bring cash to the event for the purchase for the tickets. There will be many excellent prizes to be won!
SPORTSMANSHIP: Competitors in this tournament are expected to follow the highest standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety and conservation. This has never been a problem and we don't expect it ever will be.
PHOTOGRAPHY WAIVER: Photographs and or videos will be taken during the event. Some will be posted on our public website or Facebook for all to see. We do this as a fun service for the people who attend and to share this important event with the public.
