For those of us from out of town, where would be the best place to stay? Can't find any motels that are central to both lakes. Seems like it might be a lot of driving time between lakes. Ideas???

No hotels close by, mandatory meeting 45 minutes from the first days lake, then back 45 minutes to day two lake. Yes lots of driving. NewJen 2020?

Black Oak Casino. 30 min to Melones 45 min To Flemming. No worse than a Berry TOC.

No worse than Berry TOC? That is the reason you don't see many toc events at Berry. When you add another lake, the logistics make it more expensive and lots of miles on the road. Clearlake is great for toc events because of so many motels and places to eat. The lakes are fine, but it won't be easy with the travel and lack of places to stay.

Shooter - I think it’s interesting that your first and ONLY post on Westernbass is commenting on this thread and suggesting another circuit. Hmmmm

We all have to remember that the BBT TOC draws anglers from up and down the state from SoCal, Central Coast, Mother Lode as well as Sacramento and Bay Area. The TOC being split between these two lakes is really bringing a level playing field.

I’ve only been to New Malone’s once and never at Pedro so it’s going to be interesting indeed. But shouldn’t a tournament of Champions be challenging?

Hey Everybody,

It's great to see the excitement from the BBT Family of Anglers about the TOC announcement. With the dates and locations set we are sure our anglers will have ample time to locate lodging and put together a game plan.

At Don Pedro we will be launching from Fleming Meadows launch ramp http://www.dbw.ca.gov/BoatingFacilities/Details/845

From New Melones we will be launching from Tuttletown

As always check out http://www.fishbbt.com for updates and check out some of our open events coming up between now and October.

Ash, I currently fish the mother load division and have fished both lakes for many years. I have pulled checks from both but I know how difficult it is especially in the fall. The only leveling of the playing field I see is two different lakes in two days. Yes it will be challenging especially with the logistics of it all but unless your one of the few who magically catch 20lb bags on back to back days or guide on the lakes I don’t see anything to cheer about. My partner and I grind all year to go to the TOC and have a better chance of catching big fish at large fisheries like Clearlake and the delta. Yes you have guys everywhere who seem to have it dialed in but in my opinion the delta and Clearlake give everyone the chance to catch really big bags.

Right on brother, my apologies then. I thought maybe it was a comment from an ANTI BBT type. You know we appreciate everyone who fishes the BBT. Guys in your regions have been all over Randy sense back in the WRL days to have a TOC out on New Melones and now we have it. Trust me as a guy who spends half the year on the Delta I would much rather be on the river, and I don't know if i will have the time to effectively break down these two lakes but I embrace the challenge. Heck since this is going down in your backyard maybe you can recommend where i should book my lodging

There are many hotels within an hour of both lakes ( Sonora,Merced,Angels camp) and decent camping at both. Pedro camping is expensive but has all the conveniences and is close to the check in mandatory meeting. When I fish melones I stay at the travel lodge in angels camp. They have decent boat parking and plug ins. I wouldn’t wait around to book something as I’m sure they will fill up quickly. Good luck...

I've stayed at the Jumping Frog in Angels Camp many times. It's convenient and has outside plugs for charging. It can get a little tight, but it works. Some of my friends have stayed at the Travel Lodge and they were good too. Only problem is you're not as close to your boat. And it's a little further away from Tuttle Town. There are great camp grounds near both lakes also. I'd motel at Melones, and Camp at Pedro !! It's about 45 min to Pedro from Melones. There's a great Bait shop at the Glory Hole turn off, aptly called Glory Hole Sports !! Has a really good bait selection and sandwiches too !!

Great job moderating this thread Ash. The truth is no matter what Lake/ Lakes we chose someone wasn’t going to be happy. You are also 100% correct that we do appreciate each and every angler that fishes the BBT. Those that qualify for the TOC and choose to participate will be treated to a great event. Those that want to sit this one out..... Well, we’ll miss ya
