Elite-5 HDI Combo

[Lowrance Elite-5 HDI Combo]

I have version 1.0.2.0.14 for this unit and have followed all instructions to upgrade to Ver: Elite5-6.0-7.0.10-Standard-1.
When I insert the SD card in the unit and turn on the power, then go to the SD card it does not recognize the file. Do I need to find an older update and install it first? If so where can I find them? If not I am am wits end to find a solution.I know it is an older unit but I should still be able to upgrade it somehow. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have had heath issues for the last few years and am now ready to get back at it.

First you MUST un-zip the file and extract all the files to the SD card. There are several .zip utilities on the web for FREE, I prefer to use 7ZIP.

Once it is unzipped should the finder recognize the .UPD file?

Well I put the sd card into the unit it said what it should have.
Followed the instructions

Installing the update on your HDS unit
1. Turn your Lowrance HDS unit off.
2. Place the SD/MMC card containing the updated operating software in the unit’s SD/MMC card
slot.
3. Turn your HDS unit on. The software update will automatically install.
4. After the install is complete, remove the SD/MMC card from the unit, the unit will restart

At this point I waited and waited @ 10 minutes and the unit never came back on.

What now, can anybody advise what next? Besides buying a new one LOL

I did try that the unit came on but stayed on the startup screen. None of the buttons would respond. Had to unplug the unit to turn it off.

Well I finally got the unit working. Thanks to Edd for the help. Everyone have a great day. I will now that the unit is up and working. The new update(s) have been installed waaaaaahooo!
