I had occasion this weekend to use another swimbait after the hudd went unanswered. So the answer is....the one that's working!

I figuered he was asking for an overall bait. The Hud does not always work. I know the M.S. Slammer works well at this time of year and also at night. Overall for everyday use though it is tough to beat a Hud..

The Hudd is VERY HARD to beat but like Ray said it doesn't always work.

You might want to check http://www.swimbaitNation.com as well. There is lots of info on swimbaits there and a forum specifically for swimbait fisherman.

Hey Ray, No worries.. .Hasn't had new info in a while now. However, I am about to begin filming a new series for the website. Should be good for this time of year. So many guys put the big bait down in the summer... well, we have some alternatives and we'll have these videos up soon! :)

Hey Tom, you wrote: So many guys put the big bait down in the summer...

While I am relatively new to being a diehard swimbaiter, I have downsized for the summer time. Is this the wrong thing to do?

My vote for favorite swimbait would be the River2Sea baits
Four Decades of Red!!!!!!!!

To be honest, I am not the best guy to ask about this. Although I do love throwing swimbaits and am getting better at it everyday I am not nearly as good with it as other guys. With that stated, I will gladly give you my .02.

Downsizing may not be the right thing to do. In fact, I just heard from a "Big Event" winner that won with a swimbait and he was buying 10 inch Castaic Swimbaits and claimed they weren't big enough!

What I recommend is this. Fish them Faster... Fish them in the low light hours of the day and especially at night. At night use loud swimbaits... Top Water Swimbaits are especially good - A couple I like are the Armegeddon, The MS Slammer and the AC Minnow... but, burning a huddleston or Platinum across the top of the water column works as well.

All depends on where you are fishing really. You might want to ask this question on SwimbaitNation.com the guys there are helpful and probably quite a bit more informative than myself!

Catch a big one!

Hudds and Mattlures are my most productive brands. Right now the ML baby bass is "THE BAIT"

Matt Lures are also tied on my rods quite often... Great for Bed Fishing... just as good for post spawn bass! I like the 6 inch series - but, the baby bass series works well and so does the Bluegill series!
