SOUTH ENTRANCE TO MILDRED DANGER!
SOUTH ENTRANCE TO MILDRED DANGER!
There's a pipe floating just inside the island that spans across the entire break. Most of it is just under the surface and it would not be very noticeable at low light or even high glare or chop. Maybe it's common knowledge already but I thought it was worth posting.
I'm guessing it was recently dislodged with the high winds?

Called San Joaquin Co Sheriff regarding this. Got ahold of Marine Patrol and they are going to check it out. Looked over on Blanton's board and it was posted that one of the striper guides actually hit this thing.

Great Post, i saw this on Facebook and didnt think about sharing it here. it sounds like the pipe has shifted off and now is an obstruction. So many of us are conditioned to be able to go in and out of there on plane its no bueno.

Thanks for posting, didn't know.
Re: SOUTH ENTRANCE TO MILDRED DANGER!
Heard that a boat hit this thing yesterday and had to be rescued. Thought it was worth bumping it back up with the assumption that nothing has been done about it...
Re: SOUTH ENTRANCE TO MILDRED DANGER!
Saw it on the news last night. They said PG&E owns it and it's not in use. From what they showed on the news which wasn't much it looks like a long concrete slab.

It's a pipe
Re: SOUTH ENTRANCE TO MILDRED DANGER!
Is it possible to show a map and point out the exact location? It doesn't show it on the news article.
I was there yesterday and didn't see anything from where I entered.

This is from the Sheriffs office last night . Is it the area being discussed?
San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office
Boaters use caution:
Today the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s boating safety unit responded to a boating accident in the area of Mildred Island and Empire Cut.
The vessel sustained damage to its propulsion gear due to striking a pipe that was blocking the southern entrance to Mildred Island.
Deputies investigated and found several hundred feet of a partially submerged steel pipe. The pipe is approximately 24 inches in diameter and very hard to see. It was determined that the gas pipe belongs to PG&E and is out of service.
The US Coast Guard will be working with PG&E to mitigate this hazard. We ask that boaters in the area use extreme caution. Please share with boaters that you may know.

I'm glad they're finally doing something about it, but I will miss catching fish off of it.

That's super scary. You'd think they could put some 'DANGER' buoys there.
