You Don't Know Their Names Yet

Post by WB Staff »

Who would have imagined a day when student-athletes could earn a letter in high school or college sports for competitive fishing -- just like student-athletes who play football, basketball or baseball? Or what about obtaining a college scholarship to fish at the collegiate level?

In a new national TV spot, Rapala salutes high school and college student-athletes who participate in competitive fishing.

“Interest in competitive fishing is simply exploding among high school and college students,” said Matt Jensen, marketing director for Rapala USA. “And at Rapala, we’re excited to feed it.”

“These fishing teams are tomorrow’s pro anglers,” Jensen added. “Instead of watching what others are doing on YouTube, these competitors are using YouTube to sharpen their tournament skills, while building excitement for fishing among their peers. They are role models inspiring the next generation (Gen Z, Alpha Gen) to pursue fishing.”

“I’m looking forward to the day when we watch the results of high school and college fishing tournaments during the sports broadcasts that cover football,” said Jensen.

Rapala is proud to support youth angling at all levels – from introducing youngsters to fishing on family outings to sponsoring youth anglers who want to take their passion to the next level. Rapala is a proud sponsor of the YETI FLW College Fishing and the FLW High School Fishing circuits, the Minnesota Student Angler Tournament Trail, Carhartt Bassmaster College Series presented by Bass Pro Shops, Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School Series presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors.
