Lowrance Ghost and Ranger Z522D

Post by Yaboy »

Looking for info. I have a 2018 Ranger 522D and want to switch to a 47 inch shaft Lowrance Ghost. I have called multiple ranger dealers and get about 50% say that shaft length is just fine and the other say the shaft length wouldn't be enough. I have taken all the measurements and it looks like the 47 inch shaft length is right on the line depending on what website gives you the "ideal" measurements to follow. Looking to see if anyone has experience with this.

Thank you for your input.

A 47 inch shaft is fine as long as you don't want too much of the shaft sticking up above the mount. In very rough water you may have the motor come out of the water at the top of a wave but that is such an infrequent experience, I don't believe it is an issue. I would get the 47 inch Lowrance Ghost Trolling Motor!

My buddy own's a 2016 Z522D - and you are going to want the longer shaft Lowrance Ghost on this hull. I have fished out of his boat many times on Clear Lake and when the water gets rough your going to thank your self for buying the longer shaft trolling motor. This hull is a deep water hull design not your typical bass boat.

Thank you all for the input. After doing more research and making a bunch of phone calls, I am going to wait for Lowrance to release the longer shaft motor which I hope will be soon.
