Recharging a live vest

I picked up a recharge kit for my vest today and when I got home I found it has a bayonet attachment and on my vest the cylinder just threads in. It looks like the bayonet is just threaded onto the new cylinder. Can I just unthread the the bayonet piece and then thread in the new cylinder into my vest. The cylinder capacities are the same.
Fish bite twice a day - half hour before I get there and half hour after I leave.
