NEW COVID closures from Konocti Vista Casino, Resort & Marina:

Postby WB Staff » Mon Aug 03, 2020 8:16 pm

Konocti Vista Casino and Resort is sharing a COVID-19 Update.

Public Update from Konocti Vista Casino, Resort & Marina:

Konocti Vista Casino, Resort and Marina has been working with Bass Tournament Directors, in taking extra steps to ensure participant and public safety during this COVID Pandemic. Although, as concerned community members, we have watched numbers continue to spike in the spread of COVID-19 in California, we feel we need to do our part to assist in lowering the numbers. That is why starting August 15th, 2020, Konocti Vista Casino, Resort and Marina will no longer host any fishing tournaments thru the end of the year. While it was a difficult decision to make, we feel it will allow us to more efficiently maintain social distancing and safety protocols on our property, in an effort to keep our guests, team members, fisherman and community safe.

Please note, that the Casino, Hotel, RV Park, Marina, Convenience Store, Snack Bar (Takeout) and Marina Grill (Fri/Sat/Sun) are still open with modified hours and COVID-19 protocols in place.

We are appreciating the understanding of all the Tournament Directors and fisherman as we shared this turn of events with them this week. We can only hope that by the beginning of next year’s fishing season, we will be throwing open the gate to Marina and inviting everyone back to weigh-ins and award events!

Thank you and Stay Safe.

Amazing news that Tournament Bass fishing is too dangerous ..... but somehow their Casino remains open for business.

The whole covid thing has become old. Know the risk. Lift the restrictions. Burn the mask. Open the economy
Stay home if you are scared
The politics is out of control

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Viruses don't listen to fake new coming out of the White House and on FaceBook. It takes ALL of us to stop the spread. Don't be a pssuy, just mask up and be a good American caring for your fellow man.

Man up. Stay home if you are afraid of a virus that kills 1/2 percent of infected
Let the rest of us be free
Or destroy the economy to the point we won’t have anything to come back to

I personally believe Covid is a big deal. Too much wreckage, in red and blue states. You can’t change my opinion based on statistics I’ve seen and Trump has literally said this is the worst virus America has seen since the Spanish flu. But, outdoor activities like fishing is probably one of the best ways to avoid Covid. Being inside a casino is not! I haven’t heard of one Covid outbreak from bass tournaments, or bass fishing.

Masks don't stop it either. It can also enter through your eyes. A person would need a full hazmat suit and disinfect everything they have continually to even have a chance not to come into contact with it.
All of this is fueled by the left to try and steal an election. They don't give a damn about the country. They just want power.
I highly doubt Trump believes this virus is that bad. He is just playing politics. Anyone with common sense can see it isn't that bad. If it was sunny and 100 degrees out but the news tells you its raining but you just can't see or feel it a lot of you would believe it.

This all started in China and it started with one person getting infected and then spreading it. Now millions if not billions of people worldwide have been infected. Yeah your little mask that has your sports team logo on it is going to stop this. MORONS
I don't blame KVC for shutting down tournaments. It looks good to the local morons in charge. KVC knows where their money comes from.

Housing is a slight issue for travelers. We should find a better place for the future. Konocti is really not that good it has just been an easy option.

As far as covid is concerned it is unfortunately being over sensationalized because of it being an election year. The quarantine should be for those that are high risk and not the opposite. Quarantining weakens our immune system which is one of the main reasons that our elderly are at risk. They naturally have less exposure to the outside world which is the real cause of the high attrition for the over 70's.

The two party system has reached and all time low. The difference between wining an election and losing is now the same as wining and coming in dead last. The economic difference is so great that there is nothing the losing party will do to get back in power. It has nothing to do with Trump. They do not care about our well being just power and greed.

All sides of the politics on this topic are nuts--
quarantine the ill (and anyone who desires) free the healthy - let freedom ring!

I don't want to get into whole the Covid discussion, is it real or is it sensationalized. Do we need to wear masks or not; do we stay home or not.

Rather the fact is that Covid has impacted the fishing community more than once, first and foremost with Lake Closures and I for one am so glad Clear Lake and other regional lakes remain open.

As for the Casino knowing where they make their money, that is a no brainer as they say.
KVC has three business units, The Hotel Casino, The Smoke Shop and Dispensary, and yes those are "THE" sources of income for the Rancheria; not tournaments.

KVC is "not" the bad guy here, they are simply following the guidelines from the State and County.
You may be surprised to know (my opinion only) but I think KVC looks at hosting bass tournaments as a function they provide to support the community of Lake county as opposed to a money making endeavor. Much like they support the Music in The Park and other community activities.

I have no dog in this argument, I don't stay at the Casino nor do I know anyone associated with KVC.
I do live here and purchased a home 2 years ago. One of the drivers for making a purchase here is the lake, I am an avid bass fisherman although you can't tell by how many fish I catch.

I will close by asking that we try to understand the difficult decision they made, be grateful they built the best Marina on the lake and are willing to host tournaments at such a wonderful venue.

Honestly this post just makes me sad. I used to have such high hopes for the internet broadening people's minds and thinking on higher levels. I'm sure somebody will read this and regurgitate your misinformation along - just as you read this hogwash elsewhere and are passing it along here. I'm only going to bother refuting one point (although I could pick apart everything you said). Covid is being sensationalized because it's an election year? Is it an election year in the whole world? Do you think Covid has been a big media story in Japan, Korea, German, Iran, Spain? It has. Maybe it's a big story because it's a big story.

KVC’s decision not to have tournaments, is not entirely Covid ! they have been pushing the bass fisherman out of the picture for years now !, jacked there rates way up “, no more discount “ charge for launching , etc.

That is pretty ridiculous on their part. Most of their business is probably from bass fishing, and tournaments.

If anyone is interested I would recommend you google "Big Valley Rancheria"
Once you are on their web site click on the "About Us" tab and educate yourself about them, maybe you will come away with a different perspective ?

Maybe some of you have not attended the larger tournaments at KVC & KVR. The FLW, Opens and toc's generate what appears to be a significant amount of business for a small place. I personally think they are mediocre overall and if they don't want to have events there or IMO are being overly compliant then we should find another place. Maybe this could be a business opportunity for someone.

It should make you sad, but since your such an expert on the covid, why don't you write a thesis on the topic. Then post it so we all will know exactly what is going on and we don't have to worry anymore about if we have the correct information. May as well add in the effects of the quarantine. The damage to the economy, the generation of kids that will loss a year of education, the increase suicide, the increase in drug and alcohol abuse etc.

I never said that the covid 19 was not real or an issue. I said it is over sensationalized. The irrational insecure lefties just eat up this narrative. The media and democrats use this because it suits their needs.

I have family, friends and customer's in 6 other countries. I have discussed this topic with them and none have said the media in their country was responding to covid at the same level that the media is here in the sates. The narrative is a constant sell the fear and bash the president. Sell the fear and bash the president. Last year the democrats said the only way they could win the up coming election was if the economy would falter.

So write your bullsh-it and post it so we all can be enlighten to the facts. You should use an alias maybe dumbshithead douchebag because that is what everyone will refer to you as after the fact.

Right on bro. It has not been my intent to waste my time arguing with you. I have been on forums since the 90s and I just remember before 2006 when forum posts and internet arguments were of a much higher quality. You are just a product of your time I suppose. I was just lamenting how much has changed and your initial post, no offense, screamed "FACEBOOK". This is a bass fishing forum. I just think it is sad how political everything has become. And not in a nuanced, thoughtful way. Even your emotional response to me, on a forum in the early 2000s nobody (accept a true wacko) would have an outburst like that. Is it normal? You wouldn't talk to me like that in real life. Why is it okay for a grown man to start name-calling like that? Because you saw it on social media? Maybe I'm just nostalgic for an era that is lost....

Folks, I have been fishing our club events at Clear lake out of Konocti since 2003. Every year we held our event on the same weekend and Konocti always offered discounted rooms and a section of the meeting room catered at a discounted rate.GUARANTEED REVENUE EVERY YEAR. Since then the tent has now become a full fledged building and we are now told there will be no discounted rates and you can not have your club event on memorial weekend. So we decided as a club to protest with our money. We still hold our event on memorial weekend every year, book lodging elsewhere, and we conduct our club dinner at a restaurant. Our weigh in is held at Lakeport along with the awards ceremony. I know a lot of anglers including your truly always went to the casino at night to eat dinner in the restaurant and gamble. Come to think of it, the last couple of years I have been money ahead due to the casino not being at the place I am staying. Disregard my post and Konocti continue conducting business the way you are. Lol!!!!!

You failed to mention that from the start of the quarantine, people have been encouraged to go out, exercise, and do outdoor activities that allow social distancing. But when you have people not listening aka clogging the boat ramps, 5 friends on one boat, lake parties, etc, of course things will get shut down. Unfortunately, there's too many selfish people out there that ruin things for everyone and the people that think this is political are mainly the culprit. This pandemic should be long over by now but people still can't seem to accept that COVID-19 is real. Just wear your mask when applicable and follow the rules. We all want this over with...

That is merely opinion. No one knows for sure or at least as far as the general public is concerned what would have the best overall outcome. There are two issues at hand the effect from the virus and the management.

I personally believe that it may have been over sooner if we did not quarantine the healthy. Yes there would have been more cases in a shorter period but the possibility of less death because the period may have been shortened. We quarantined to prevent overloading of the medical infrastructure. Maybe that worked, maybe it didn't but it appears to have increased the duration.

In a free state it would be impossible to control everyone. We make decisions everyday about our well being. We engage in activities that have substantial risks and this is no different. There are people who understand why this country is the best and these brave people believe in maintaining our freedom and except the costs. Maybe you have the selfish part backwards.

We will know after Nov is this political. I predict covid will not be an issue an the new topic will be the bellyaching of the loss.

Konocti Harbor is owned by the same tribe as Konocti Vista so hoping for a different management approach is likely not happening....

Konocti Resort & Spa is owned by Clear Lake Resort Services” out of San Fran ! not the Pomo tribe !....

I really do hope we as a group (tournament fisherman and orgs) remember this and not patronize this establishment with our $. I really don't understand the concept of leaving the casino, bar, RV, restaurant open and banning tournament fishing. It makes absolutely no sense and there is not an argument that can support this... There are other venues that could use our money.
The last tournament i fished was down at Redbud and the chamber of commerce was onsite bright and early with coffee, breakfast items and just a lot of appreciation for us being down there. Also after the tourney they were onsite with waters, juices etc. As a business owner myself that does mean a lot. I know Redbud has had its issues in the past with crime but I think (or hope) thats been addressed. You have to admit Redbud launch is a great facility (after the improvements)
We need to give our hard earned money to venues that appreciate us as a group. I know Jimmy (Clear Lake bait and tackle) has one of the most comprehensively stocked tackle stores on the lake.
With this decision by the Casino I do feel for the tackle stores and restaurants in Lakeport area unless the orgs move to another location in the area. I guess the Casino could care less about the local merchants and the affect this has on them.
Tight lines..be safe

. I agree ! regardless if the casino allows tournaments “ the different orgs should “share the love” !. currently I think only BBT goes out of Redbud ?...

besides the economic impact, "sharing" the love as you say would actually benefit the fishery immensely.
Seven years of all the tournaments coming out of the north has hurt the fishing significantly from Windflower
south.
Hopefully the Harbor will once again participate and we'll see mid-lake south comeback again?
