Bass in the tahoe keys!

Post by Bass in the tahoe keys »

We just left South Lake Tahoe! The abundance of bass in the tahoe keys was most Definitely worth the drive 6 hours to hook em! We didn’t catch anything over 5 lbs but was still worth every minute fishing there! If I can figure out how to post some pics I will! From Monday to Friday we caught about 18 bass ranging from 2-5lbs we also hooked some crappie, blue gill and a couple cat fish! When people say the bass in the tahoe keys are gone don’t believe them! Go fish! Was definitely worth it!

It would be nice for us who live here to not see posts like this. I understand your excited but we have plenty or tourists and don’t need anymore people in the Keyes.

Glad you had fun...

It’s no secret one google search away from millions of of posts about the bass in the keys the same way I found out about it.. most people that actually live in the keys are happy to see the invasive fish out of there Not that it will ever happen but like I said it’s definitely no secret

So your keeping the bass also? The invasive issue is the makinaw(lake trout). You think the bass are leaving the Keyes to eat stocker trout at cave rock? Clearly your misinformed.

Think your just looking for a reason to argue with someone there are many invasive fish in that lake in those marinas no one said there wasn’t a more invasive fish... I had fun and yes I kept my bass! Thanks!

I bet the merchants including the restuarants, hotels, casinos, clothing stores, etc., all appreciate "the tourists" regardless what they are fishing for on Lake Tahoe or whether they are skiiing, hiking, etc. If I was living at Lake Tahoe and didn't appreciate the tourists, I'd probably just choose to move elsewhere. It's a tad difficult to "hide Lake Tahoe" from tourists, I've been going there for a variety of activities including fishing for years, I know my fishing guide appreciates my being there each year.

So blasting an entire area, which has zero fishing pressure. How does this have to do with supporting hotels, restaurants, guides?

Support the town, that’s a great thing. Why feel the need to create a lot of fishing pressure on a lake you don’t live near? You take a guide for a reason. Jigging for makinaw is fun, have at it.

You obviously like fishing crowded areas, we don’t. Your logic makes zero sense.

So I guess no one should report on Clear Lake or the Delta or any where else?

I had a long post about this thread but I decided to delete it. I'll just say that i appreciate the enthusiasm of the original post about the fishing in the keys. It still has a great population of bass and its open to the public. Tight lines everyone!

Thanks for the report on fishing the keys. Sounds like a fun trip and good fishing! Like the post above me I appreciate the enthusiasm. Too much negativity in the world not to appreciate a good fishing trip story.

Are there that many guys willing to haul their boat up to Tahoe and pay a large inspection fee to fish in the Keys? It must be better than I thought :P

Seriously it’s a joke saying that somebody shouldn’t post about any fishing area. Last time I looked every person on here that has a fishing license pays to maintain and manage fisheries for all of us to enjoy as equal opportunity. If you think for one minute Clear Lake, Delta, Bullards or “The Keys” is anyones private secret you’re a fool. I’m all about making a trip there and hanging in the keys and smash some fish. Maybe have a Derby there and get the word out.

the farther back and away from the main lake, the warmer the water, the more (and bigger) bass there were. At least that's how it was when we did removals of warmwater species from the keys 8-10 years ago.
