2 for 20lbs

Post by Chad Sweitzer »

Haven’t visited the Westernbass forums as much in the past few months, too busy fishing! I was blessed to catch a 10-11 and a 10-3 in 3 casts last week. It wasn’t the first time I’ve had 2 for 20lbs but it is the first time I’ve done it with back to back double digits!

That is a major accomplishment - especially back to back!! That experience could be the high point of your total fishing career! I always ask this question - were you just going "down the bank" or was this a special area that you were targeting trophies - like an offshore rockpile for example? Ten pounders, these days, are more rare along the shore with all the fishing pressure, except during the spawn. Not surprised that you caught two of that size if you were in an area that was near deep water or some other good structure spot. Congrats again - a SPECIAL catch!!

Let me warn you - the next few bass you catch will seem really small!! Maybe you already experienced that!!

Some folks already know that after I caught my personal best (14-2, Amador), 4 or 5 pounders looked like "dinks" for the next several months!!!!

These fish were in the same area, but different ambush spots. One was on a submerged lay down right on top of the point, and the other was in a pocket next to the point. Both spots were great for pinning trout coming from deep water.
Thank you both for the kind words!

Congrads on the DDs! I'm curious about your setups for the 250 and Mag... Can you give a break down of rod, reel and line used for each?
