WWBT Apex series
WWBT Apex series
Can anyone explain the Apex series to me? Thank you!
Re: WWBT Apex series
Hi JL. The WWBT is having their first CA Team event of the year today at Shasta. Will probably get answer back when they wrap that up.

Re: WWBT Apex series
It’s an invitation series. They picked the anglers they want fishing it. Not open to other anglers to join. From what I’ve seen so far.
Re: WWBT Apex series
APEX is designed to be the highest level of bass fishing in our region. All of the television, media, angler exposure, and corporate partnerships will be highlighted.
In 2021 the field was comprised of corporate partnership exemptions, prior pro cup participants, former AOY’s, and the top 22 anglers from the 2020 WWBT AOY List.
Anyone can qualify for 2022 via the 2021 WWBT Pro/Am season which starts in 6 days. You have to be top 10 in AOY points on the pro side to guarantee your invitation. They anticipate expanding the field for the next 2-3 years potentially capping the APEX field around 50-65 Ish anglers. At some point they will release underperforming anglers out of the field to make room for future qualifiers.
Wrapped boats, jerseys, and contracts are all required. Once qualified you currently get 2 seasons to sustain yourself.
They plan on going to “non-mainstream” lake locations in 2020. The format will be a hybrid format using traditional and non-traditional elements.

Ken! Thank you very much! Well explained and sounds like a great idea with the non mainstream lakes.

WWBT sent this message:
We have provided many details of the APEX series in Live facebook video content etc. More info will always be provided leading up to the season beginning.
Anglers were invited and selected by the following process
1. 2020 AOY list from the WWBT Pro side of the Pro/Ams. Approx 17 were selected this way
2. Sponsor exemption from our sponsors request or previous Pro/Cup participation that stems from over 5 years
3. Pro Cup has been evolving into APEX and we have been televising Pro Cup on Pursuit for the past (5) years.

Is the schedule of the "non-mainstream" lakes posted somewhere?

Not yet, the field doesn’t even know yet. The venues could be off limits to the field from the time it’s announced. TBDmark poulson wrote:Ken,kmah wrote:Thank you for your questions on WB. Re: WWBT Apex series
That would certainly provide a more level playing field.kmah wrote:Not yet, the field doesn’t even know yet. The venues could be off limits to the field from the time it’s announced. TBDmark poulson wrote:Ken,kmah wrote:

They have a two day permit for Los Banos Creek Reservoir on 8/21/21. I don't see it on their Kayak schedule so maybe its for there "Apex" series. I haven't fished there in years but last time I was there I was tearing them up on a black Dance's EEL.
