American Bass Anglers (ABA) Kayak Series held their second regular season event on Lake Perris (11 miles southeast of Riverside, CA) on 4/17/21 with a full field of 50 anglers.

Anglers were met with a heavy marine layer of dense fog in the AM that eventually burned off to make for some beautiful So Cal weather. Daytime highs were in the low 80s. Light winds were reported most of the day with a peak of 10 mph around 1:00 PM. The water temp was 60 to 65 with visibility at 4 to 5 feet.

Anglers were catching them from the bank out to 20 to 25 feet. Fish were found on beds, guarding fry and out in deeper water. Senkos were reported to be a popular choice.

Ryan Moriarity of Escondido, CA was fishing a Senko in deeper water for a 91.25 inch five fish limit anchored by a 21.25-inch tank (that was ultimately the big fish of the tournament) to secure the win.

Alex Cox (co-host of the Bass Thumbs Fishing Podcast) of Seal Beach, CA was only .5 inches behind the leader with a 90.75-inch five fish limit that he caught on a big swimbait shallow.
