SCAMMER ALERT !!!

I received a PM on a listing I had posted some time ago from a peteythedog who said that a guy he knew had the Shimano 200 DHSV reel I was looking for and gave me his cell number so I could text him. I sent him a text telling him I was still looking. He replied that he had two and wanted $240. I asked him if that was for 1 or 2. He stated for 1. I told him I had been paying between $85-110. He then said he'd do $110 !!! WOW !!! BIG RED FLAG !! So, I asked him for his PayPal, which he gave me saying he wanted FAMILY AND FRIENDS !!! BIGGER RED FLAG !!!! Said it was a new account and if I sent it GOODS AND SERVICES they would hold the money for 21 days !!! I declined the purchase. SO, BEWARE !!!!!

I’ve used PayPal to run a business for years and know it inside out to transfer money family and friends or goods and services are both instant transfers. Dude is looking to steal peoples hard earned money shame on him he’ll have it coming. Only time PayPal holds your money is when you sell something thru eBay or a website and it’s a high amount and you transfer it from your PayPal to your bank they hold it for 3 days before it clears in your bank.

Yeah Peteythedog tried to pull that bs with me on an nrx rod I was looking for. Moderators need to remove him and his IP from Westernbass before people get ripped off. Love to find out who these scumbags are.

Dude just responded to a wtb post I put up . Looks like the small world we used to enjoy is now gone . Wasn’t to long ago people never thought to scam a fisherman. Crazy times !

Interesting...I posted a Want to Buy post looking for a Ranger Cover. Got a text this morning from a guy offering me a cover and wants me to pay via Paypal to Friends and Family. He wont send me additional photos...gives me an excuse why and it all sounds fishy.

Text came from an 812 area code...wondering if others got similar texts from the same number?

There's alot of this going on. Becareful. I had a guy text me with a weird number. Stating he was interested in a kayak I have posted. After I sent him some photos he asked me for for my name and address so he can put the check in my name. As soon as I told him cash only, it got quiet. So becareful.

NEVER pay with "Family and Friends" unless you KNOW that person. Anytime someone wants you to pay this way, DO NOT JUST WALK AWAY<>>>>>RUN !!! Huge Red Flag !!!
