water been taken out of New Melones

Post by lobinero »

This week I spoke to a DFG officer and a N M park ranger. They said a foot a week of water has been taken of NM. they don't know or where to. Is too early for farmers planting in the central valley! With a limited snow melt and poor prospective rain amounts forecasted, N M will be a puddle by yr end. Build more dams. Stop sending water to the ocean.

Stop sending water to the ocean? So are you suggesting destroying an entire ecosystem because people and the state can't figure out how to stop wasting water? They are working on removing dams currently, so I don't see many being built any time soon.

All the lakes are dropping, we haven't had any substantial rain since December. Don't think any lake is different from another. It's going to be an ugly and dry year. Get ready for the wildfires.

They have been dumping water out of Melones for a solid month and a half. Who know's where it's going and why.
That water will be missed in 6 months.
This isn't going on at Don Pedro. They don't let more then 200 CFS down the Tuolumne.

Wasting water?? We know where 75% of its going. Evidently the state isn't going to put a limit on agriculture. It's only a matter of time before they suck this state dry.

I have no idea why anyone is dumping water after I drove over the summit last week. We're in trouble. There's very little snow up there. This week we hit 70s in the reno area.

2018 Oroville flooded, Dam broke, Don Pedro spilled over, rivers were flooded, Ca most snow pack in history,
you telling me that its because of a dry year? Not that its missed ran, selling of the water?
Ca water is very poorly ran, and they are crooks

Mismanagement is the cause in my opinion as well. Whether purposely or just from pure ignorance, it doesn’t matter.

The idiots at bureau could easily have filled Shasta in 2018 but did not let it go higher than 5 feet from full pool? Concerned about those heavy rain in May/Jine? NOAA showed no rain.

There's all kinds of garbage going on. A local lake I fish weekly is down to the point it was in October. That said the site I go to for water levels says full pool and show levels higher than October. A island I was anchored on is now out of the water. They're full of it, why? I dunno.
